Introduction to search intent
Search intent or user intent is the underlying reason the user makes a given search. When searching on Google, the user may look for a specific website, information, products, or something else.
We group search intent into four categories: Transactional, commercial, navigational, and informational. Learn more here and here.
We used a combination of unlabelled and hand-labeled data to train a machine learning model which precisely predicts search intents based on the keyword and the SERP.
Aligning your content with the search intent detected by AccuRanker not only satisfies user queries more effectively but also increases the likelihood of higher rankings.

AccuRanker's AI-based approach
Search intent is a nuanced topic. And setting up a set of fixed rules to find the intent Google is targeting for a given keyword is near impossible. Fortunately, the developments in the field of AI and machine learning over the past decade makes new methods feasible. We now have the right toolset to use the enormous amounts of SERP data AccuRanker processes daily to train a machine learning model.
AccuRanker's AI model is trained using a combination of hand-labeled and unlabeled SERP data to identify intent with more than 90% accuracy! Note, that accuracy in search intent can be somewhat subjective, as even humans (up to 40%) looking at SERPs disagree about the search intent, and a SERP can display multiple intents. Learn more here about how AccuRanker uses AI to determine search intent.
Our model uses more than 80 SERP features and a rich dataset from AccuRankers 24 billion keyword database
Using search intent
In AccuRanker you can easily segment your data by search intent on any level. For whole domains, landing pages, tags or just keywords you can get a quick overview of the intent of the keywords you are currently tracking, and also for those that you are not! You can also combine it with other filters to segment your data anyway you want.
The search intent data is also available in Looker Studio, in our Excel reports and through our API.
